As life trickles along……..

My ode to the thousands who perished in the Godhra massacre...

As life trickles along……..

Thousands perish, in the daily rush
The rush of a speeding bus,
Or even of an angry mob.
Unaccounted bodies, lying everywhere
Who cares for one in a billion?
The blessings of plenitude,
Now a curse of the multitude.
Where deaths are like fodder now,
That chugs the media along.
Or like meat, the vultures can feed on
Like pegs to hang aspirations on
Even as our life trickles on.

Apathy reaching, life’s many spheres
from driving our vehicles
to the way we treat the poor
losing value, for something called life.
A crying orphan, or a widow in grief,
Who is to ever realize this?
Loss of life? What’s the big deal
Ripples in pond, to the shore they never reach,
Waves at sea, don’t they always recede?
Another tap might have gone dry,
Even as my life still trickles on……..
