to say the least, i was thrilled when sachin paddledsweeped to his century, and made india win one of the most engrossing test matches i have followed. absolute perfection, the way india chased this seemingly improbable target. i was perhaps even more delighted that the match referee made viru the man of the match...what an innings of absolutely genius proportions it was...stunning assault to give india a very very realistic chance. in an hour of bliss and magnificence, the match was taken away from england....much has been written since last night, about this match bringing back smiles, specially to people of mumbai which suffered so much in the last fortnight...each and every word is true, and my hats off to the spirit shown by indians..led so so beautifully by the immortal sachin. thanks for making us proud, yet again...

Are they trying to kill cricinfo.com??

I have been religiously trying to visit www.cricinfo.com for the last 3 days, and the site just refuses to open!
I have seen this problem surfacing again and again ever since it was bought over by espnstar.com....are they trying to kill the site, in the hope visitors come to www.espnstar.com instead?

Foolish, i must say. The Coca Cola company tried desperately to kill the Thums Up brand...and what do we have? Years after the takeover, Thums Up continues to remain India's highest selling aerated drinks brand...

So my request to you, espnstar.com, do something about the site you have so famously bought. As we love that site.

i wud love to know, do people continue watching these channels as they dont have better options, or do they keep watching them since their IQ has dropped to such abysmal levels that they have actually started enjoying them?

A couple of nights back, there was a story on star news, "CBI ki team pahunchi dactar durangi ke ghar" in relation to the aarushi murder case...that bugger kept repeating the same sentence, tweaked each time, but managed to say exactly the same thing for 20 odd minutes...it has stopped being frustrating...its more of a nuisance now!

PC World: You surprised me!

I read a shocker yesterday night...
A once respected web awards (PC World Web awards) has chosen hdfcrealty.com as the best real estate website, and has said that indianpillars.com was # 2.
I am shocked at the way the analysis must have been done. if i look at the website, the following jumps out at you instantly:

1. You can search for properties in only 7 cities
2. Even in these 7 cities, you can search only in a limited set of localities. For example, in NCR, only 15 odd localities get listed, and none of them is in delhi (ghaziabad, gurgaon and noida only)
3. If i do a search of gurgaon sohna road, where a lot of action is happening, only 9 properties get shown, when i select a range of 30 lacs to 80 lacs. odd?

If you think this is odd, how about talking about indianpillars.com

1. The site is primarily AP/Hyd based, with little to show in any other city
2. Can you believe that there were ZERO properties shown when i searched for gurgaon residential properties?
3. The site design is horrible, to say the least

I am sorry PC World, you have disappointed me today.

I do not know how well India is going to take to IPL. I do not know how much sustained interest viewers will show, for 44 days. I do not know how the rampant commercialization of IPL will affect the cricket lovers/experts. I do not know whether all the hype and hoopla is warranted or not. Young Frankenstein: Brilliant!

After a fairly long time, i watched a movie which really made me laugh....
This brilliant movie is a black and white classic, "Young Frankenstein".
It's a perfect movie to watch. It has moments of brilliant humour, is filled with perfectly etched out characters, and there are enough instances when youw ant to pause the movie, so you can laugh. Really laugh...And it's not slapstick humor!

I strongly advise people to get a copy of this movie, load up with a diet pepsi, nachos and popcorns, and get ready to enjoy 100 minutes of pure bliss!

a triple century in 1 match, and u start getting compared to the best ever batsmen produced by india. u surpass 10000 runs and u get the media talking about u being the world's best batsman ever? what then happens to you in the next match? do u realize that cricket is the only passion that india has? do u realize that u r the only heroes india has..for the simple reason that ur game has the most money which attracts millions with starry eyes towards you...but all u care about really is how much a reebok is willing to give u....the success goes so easily to ur head that u can reach the heights in 1 game, and come falling down the next.

Hindi News Channels:The assault continues!

the sad part, really, is that even after all this, media planners and marketing folks like me keep aside some budget for these channels....dont see things improving at all....in fact, even ndtv india or ibn 7 have started following such an approach now...guess it was bound to happen, when you have "news" being shown 24*7..

2 years back, when i was in new york, there was a breaking news story on prime time on fox news, which was about a cat caught on a tree, that had the most advanced nation in the world watching the 'rescue' operation live for an hour.....so ultimately firemen had to come and rescue the cat from the tree...i couldnt help but think then that how dumb can a country get? 

unfortunately, the country widely recognized as amongst the brainiest in the world is now following the same path.

I hate to read that these are the 3 most viewed hindi news channels.

imagine my shock when aaj tak went about showing a "special" episode this saturday at 16.30, which was all about how cam girls are using cameras strategically placed in their homes, luring people to watch them do all sorts of 'things' throughout the day, once you pay through your credit card.

Is it breaking news?
Is it suitable to be played in the afternoon on a weekend?
Is it news that adds some value to the general public?

Is a news channel now only about pandering to your basic instincts?

the sad part is that for people like us, who need to figure out their media plans, you still have to consider these channels in your mix, as the overrated and faulty system of TRPs or basing a 20000 cr industry on basis of data of 7000 is the only option we have...

I am feeling very lucky indeed. Today was one of those days when i was at home during the day, and with nothing better to do, i went about couch potatoing. and in one of those insane moments, Aaj Tak happened...

Now publicly i have never written against aaj tak or star news or india tv, the top 3 hindi news channels of india. the only reason i never write was because i found them all unworthy of deserving my attention...but i really couldn't help but pause, and take a snap of what was coming as prime time and breaking news....have a look


I am alarmed at the level of journalism being explored by these channels these days. all possible limits of sanity are being experimented with, all in the name of masala for the users. but i guess this had to happen one fine day. u cant really run these channels 24 hours if you do not show crap like this. takes me back a couple of years to new york, when fox news was airing at prime time a live coverage of a cat which had got stuck on a tree. and then they had to call the firemen who finally saved the poor animal that had become the object of fascination for the most "advanced" nation in the world. fuck it, i dont care. if this is what they want, then this is what they get. all i know is that I do not want it, and hence i swear to stay away from this load of hogwash, and contribute in my little way to not let such channels rule the TRPs...
